Core truths

DISTRACTION

Martha loved Jesus, but her busy desire to serve Him became a distraction from actually spending time with Him.

THE LISTENING HEART BADGE

Awarded for remembering that Jesus wants your listening heart more than your busy hands.

PRESENCE

We don't have to “earn” God's love with a perfect performance. The greatest gift we can give Him is our presence.

Why it matters

  • Dismantles the dangerous idea of “earning” God's love through busy performance and works.
  • Comforts children (and parents) who struggle with perfectionism, anxiety, and the need to please.
  • Teaches that resting in God's presence is a holy and necessary choice, not laziness.

Let's talk and pray

Talk

Martha was so busy trying to make a perfect dinner for Jesus that she forgot to actually spend time with Him! Have you ever been so busy doing something that you forgot to stop and listen?

Pray

Dear God, sometimes I get worried and upset about many things. Help me to put down my distractions and have a listening heart. Amen.
