Privacy Policy - StoryArk

StoryArk is operated by Wetals Ltd (“we” or “our”). We take your privacy and your child's privacy seriously. This policy explains how information is handled in the StoryArk app and on our website.

App version matters. The changes described for iOS 1.4.0 apply when you install that version, including through TestFlight. Older installations and Android versions may have different features, as explained below. Updating this policy does not update an app already installed on your device.

1. Information Handled by the App

Reader profile and preferences

In StoryArk for iOS 1.4.0, you can begin reading without creating an account or completing a profile questionnaire. A parent can optionally add a first name or nickname in Parents' Quarters to personalise greetings and the sticker passport. Please use a nickname rather than a full name if you prefer.

Earlier versions asked for information such as a child's name, age, optional gender, reader role, reading challenges, story interests and preferred storytime. Existing profile and notification preferences may remain saved locally after an update. iOS 1.4.0 does not upload this profile through a StoryArk account or profile-sync service.

Reading activity saved on your device

Local preferences and a record of review-prompt requests

This information supports features such as continuing a story and showing achievements. The iOS 1.4.0 app does not send reader profiles or story-reading activity to PostHog or RevenueCat.

Subscriptions and purchases

Apple or Google processes purchases through its store. We use RevenueCat to validate purchases, restore subscriptions, determine premium access and provide subscription reports. This involves processing purchase history, subscription status and an app user identifier. iOS 1.4.0 uses a RevenueCat-generated anonymous identifier and does not supply your reader's name or profile answers to RevenueCat. Subscription reporting continues even though PostHog has been removed from this version.

App usage analytics and older versions

iOS 1.4.0 does not include PostHog or the “Help Improve StoryArk” setting. In an older version that offers this setting, a parent can enable or disable optional PostHog usage analytics in Parents' Quarters. That feature is disabled by default and may report events such as stories opened or completed when enabled. Removing the SDK in a new version does not itself delete data previously collected by an older version.

Story downloads and support

Some story images and audio are delivered through Cloudflare. These downloads involve network requests, including technical information such as an IP address and the requested file. The app does not attach the reader's profile to those requests. If you email support, we receive your email address and the information you choose to include. Please do not send unnecessary personal information about a child.

3. Storage and Security

Reader profiles, progress and preferences are stored locally in the app. This local storage is separate from the purchase information processed by the app stores and RevenueCat, the requests needed to download story media, and any support correspondence. iOS 1.4.0 does not offer StoryArk account creation or account-based profile syncing.

Your device's backup and security settings also affect locally stored information. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.

4. Children's Privacy

StoryArk is designed for children aged 3–10 with parental involvement. We are committed to protecting children's privacy. A child does not need to provide a name or other profile information to read the free story in iOS 1.4.0.

The reading experience does not request a child's contact details, photos or precise location

Parents or guardians can contact us to ask about information relating to their child or request its correction or deletion.

5. Third-Party Services and the Website

The mobile app uses Apple App Store or Google Play for distribution and purchases, RevenueCat for subscriptions and subscription reporting, and Cloudflare for story media. PostHog applies only to older app versions that offer the optional analytics setting described above.

The website is separate from the mobile app. Our website loads Ahrefs Web Analytics, Google Ads tags, the Pinterest tag and Visitor Tracking to measure website visits and advertising results. These website tools are not part of the iOS 1.4.0 app.

Depending on the service, website measurement may involve visited pages, referral information, browser or device information, IP addresses, and cookies or similar identifiers. Ahrefs describes its Web Analytics service as using aggregated statistics without cookies or persistent identifiers. Advertising and visitor-measurement services have their own data practices; the website should not be understood as having no analytics or advertising integrations.

6. Your Choices and Requests

Change the reader's name or nickname in Parents' Quarters
Manage notification permission in your device settings
Manage or cancel subscriptions through Apple or Google
In older app versions with “Help Improve StoryArk”, disable that setting to stop optional PostHog usage reporting
Use browser and provider settings to manage website cookies and advertising preferences
Contact us to request access to, correction, deletion or a copy of personal information we hold about you or your child

Deleting the app removes its local app data from that device, but copies may remain in device backups. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription or erase purchase records held by Apple, Google or RevenueCat. Contact us about deletion of information held outside your device.

7. Data Retention

Local profile and reading information remains on your device until it is removed. Purchase records, support correspondence and information held by service providers are separate from local app data. If you request deletion of personal information we hold, we will remove it within 30 days, except where retention is required by law. We will explain any records that must be retained. Records held independently by Apple, Google or other providers are subject to their own policies. Updating the app or disabling analytics does not automatically erase earlier records held by service providers.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app or via email where we have your contact details. The “Last updated” date indicates when this policy was last revised.
